A washing machine with a 9 kg capacity is designed for households that do a lot of washing, often. With this drum capacity, you can wash large items in a single load: a duvet, curtains or a large family’s pile of towels. You’ll do the washing less often and fill the drum more efficiently, which makes each wash cycle more economical. In this Heinner collection, you’ll find 10 washing machines with a 9 kg capacity, all with a 5-year warranty and free delivery (freestanding models are also connected). A 9 kg washing machine is the roomy family size: enough drum capacity for big loads and bulky laundry, while you have to wash less often. Below we explain who this capacity suits, how 9 kg compares to 8 kg, and what to look at in terms of energy label, spin speed and programmes. That way you choose the washing machine within the Heinner range that fits your household.
A 9 kg washing machine is ideal for large families or for anyone who washes a lot of bulky laundry. Think of a household of 4 people or more, or situations where you regularly wash duvets, curtains or large towels. Thanks to the roomy drum you load a lot of laundry in one go and run fewer cycles per week. If you mostly wash small, light loads, 8 kg will usually suit you better and you will rarely fill a 9 kg drum.
A difference of one kilo sounds small, but in practice you notice it with large laundry. An 8 kg machine suits a family of 3 to 4 people and everyday laundry well. With 9 kg you get just that bit of extra room to take a complete duvet or a full load in one go, without cramming. Washing a well-filled machine is also more efficient per kilo. The flip side: a bigger drum uses more per cycle, so it only makes sense if you really use that space.
With a large capacity the energy label weighs heavily. An A label stands for the lowest consumption; within this collection you can compare the Heinner models on that. You get the biggest advantage by running full loads: a 9 kg machine is then actually efficient per kilo. Washing at a lower temperature and using the eco programme push consumption down further. You will find more practical saving tips in our guide on buying an energy-efficient washing machine.
A high spin speed pays off precisely on large loads: 1400 rpm or more flings more water out of duvets and towels, so they need less drying time. Also watch the programmes. A duvet or large-textile programme is no needless luxury at 9 kg, and a quick wash is handy for a light load in between. Want to combine drying, or looking for a quietly running machine? A 9 kg washing machine is intended for large families, in practice from around 4 people upwards, or for anyone who regularly washes large amounts of bulky laundry. The roomy drum lets you wash big loads in one go, so you have to run the machine less often. Not sure which size to choose? Our washing machine buying guide helps you decide.
8 kg suits a family of 3 to 4 people and the normal daily washing. 9 kg gives you that bit of extra room for a full duvet, curtains or a big wash without cramming it in. So only choose 9 kg if you will really use that space, because a larger drum uses slightly more per cycle than an 8 kg machine.
Yes, that is exactly one of the strengths of this size. A 9 kg drum will usually take a single duvet and often a double one too (do check the care label on your duvet). Preferably use a duvet or bulky items programme, so the load can move freely and is washed and spun evenly.
That depends on the energy rating and on how you use it. An A rating stands for the lowest consumption. A large drum uses more per cycle than a small one, but if you wash full loads a 9 kg machine is actually efficient per kilo. Compare the Heinner models on their rating and read more in our guide to buying an energy efficient washing machine.
With large loads a high spin speed pays off. At 1400 rpm or more, more water is spun out of duvets and towels, so they need less time to dry. If you want to combine drying with your laundry routine, also take a look at our washer dryers.
