Is Heinner a good brand? An honest answer

Inhoudsopgave

If you have a look around our shop, you’ll find almost nothing but Heinner: 418 of the 443 appliances in our range are from that brand. So “is Heinner actually a good brand?” is a fair question, and we’re not exactly the most impartial party to answer it. That’s why, below, we’ve mainly included figures from our own range, along with an honest assessment of what the brand is and isn’t.

What sort of brand is Heinner?

Heinner is a value-for-money brand, not a premium brand. The median price in our range is 344 euros, ranging from 39 euros for small domestic appliances to 999 euros for the largest American-style fridges. By way of comparison: for a similar fridge-freezer from a leading brand, you’d usually pay a few hundred euros more.

The product range is extensive: 23 product categories, with the largest groups being fridge-freezer combinations (90 models), cooker hoods (53), washing machines (49) and American-style fridges (37).

What you need to be critical about: the energy label

We need to be honest here. The breakdown of energy classes in our Heinner range:

  • Class A — 63 appliances
  • Class B — 11
  • Class C — 31
  • Class D — 38
  • Class E — 160
  • Class G — 6

Class E is therefore by far the most common. This is standard for fridges and freezers in this price range, but it is something to bear in mind: the difference between Class E and Class A could amount to several hundred euros in electricity costs over ten years. If you’re looking for energy efficiency, take a closer look at the 63 appliances in Class A — they’re there, but you’ll have to seek them out.

With washing machines, the situation is different: the majority are actually in the higher energy efficiency classes.

The warranty comes from us, not from the brand

We provide a five-year guarantee on every new appliance. This isn’t a feature of Heinner but a commitment on our part, and it’s a deliberate choice: with a brand that’s less well-known than Bosch or Siemens, the question ‘what if it breaks?’ is the most important one. Five years is longer than the statutory period and longer than what most shops offer as standard.

Repairs are carried out by our own technicians, not by an anonymous service chain.

Who is and isn’t it suitable for?

Well, if you’re looking for a reliable appliance that simply does its job and you’d rather keep the price difference in your pocket. A fridge cools, a washing machine washes; the technology in this segment is well-established.

Less so if you’re looking for the very quietest washing machine, the lowest energy rating available, or a brand with a decades-long reputation in the Netherlands. We can’t promise that, nor should we.

In a nutshell

  • Heinner is a value-for-money brand; the median price in our range is 344 euros.
  • Wide range: 23 product types, 418 models.
  • Check the energy label — class E is the most common, but there are 63 appliances in class A.
  • Five-year warranty, provided by us, with our own technicians.
  • If you’re looking for the very top of the range, this isn’t the brand for you.
