Why choose a top loader?
A top loader is 40 cm wide, twenty centimetres narrower than an ordinary washing machine. That lets it fit an alcove, a narrow bathroom or a hallway where a front loader will not go. You load the laundry from above, so there is no bending down and no need to keep space free in front of the machine for a door. The lid does need to open upwards, though: a worktop or dryer above the machine will not work with a top loader. Does your machine need to go under a worktop? Then look at the slim washing machines, which are shallower rather than narrower.

Top-loading washing machines: what to look for
A top loader solves the same problem as a slim front loader, but in the other direction: it is not less deep, it is less wide. Which of the two fits depends on your space.
How big is a top loader?
Our top loaders are 40 cm wide, 61 cm deep and 87.5 cm tall. An ordinary front loader is 60 cm wide and 55 to 60 cm deep. The depth is almost the same; the whole gain is in the width. Measure your alcove and leave a little room on both sides, so the machine does not touch the wall during the spin.
How much laundry fits?
Our range runs from 7 to 8 kg, enough for a household of two to four people. The 8 kg models spin at 1300 rpm and have energy label A. The 7 kg version spins at 1200 rpm and has label C.
What a top loader cannot do
Because the lid is on top, you cannot put anything on it or build over it. Stacking a dryer on top or sliding the machine under a worktop is therefore not possible. Want to wash and dry in one place? Then look at a washer dryer.
Top loader or front loader?
Choose a top loader if width is your limit or if bending down is difficult for you. Choose a front loader if you want to stack, fit it under a worktop or need a drum of 9 kg or more. You will find those among the washing machines.

Can I put a dryer on top of a top loader?
No. The lid is on top and needs to open, so you cannot stack anything on it or build over it. To wash and dry in a small floor area, choose a washer dryer or a front loader with a dryer stacked on top.
Is a top loader less efficient than a front loader?
Not necessarily. Our 8 kg top loaders have energy label A, just like the most efficient front loaders. The 7 kg version has label C. The label is measured the same way as for a front loader, so you can compare them directly.
Who is a top loader handy for?
For anyone short on width, such as in a narrow bathroom, a hallway or an alcove. And for anyone who would rather not bend down: you load and empty the drum standing up. With 7 to 8 kg, a top loader suits a household of two to four people.
How fast does a top loader spin?
Our 8 kg models spin at up to 1300 rpm, the 7 kg version at up to 1200. That is comparable to an average front loader. The higher the spin speed, the drier the laundry comes out of the machine.
