Outlet microwaves: new, with a cosmetic flaw

Built-in and freestanding microwaves that are new, but not in a perfect box. A return within the cooling-off period, a box damaged in transit, or a scratch on the appliance itself. Every unit has been assessed by our engineer. With these appliances it is always a damaged box or a small scratch, so the condition is stated per appliance.

You get one year of Pro Witgoed warranty, free delivery and installation, and Trusted Shops buyer protection. Of almost every model there is just one.

How our engineer checks every appliance

Every outlet appliance passes through our engineer’s hands first. What happens depends on the type of appliance, and we say so plainly.

  • Washing machines and washer dryers Run a full test cycle: washing, spinning and draining. If a machine does not pass, it does not go on sale.
  • Fridges and freezers Are connected to the mains and tested on cooling before they go online.
  • Cooker hoods Are checked visually. It is always the box or a small scratch, so we do not take damage photos. We do not connect them here either: a hood is only fitted once it reaches your kitchen.
  • Microwaves and other appliances Are checked visually. It is always the box or a small scratch, so we do not take damage photos; the condition is stated per appliance.

One year of Pro Witgoed warranty on everything. If something does not work, we sort it out.

Buying an outlet microwave: what to look for

With a microwave, a lot depends on where it will stand. A built-in model disappears entirely into the housing unit at the sides and the top; a freestanding model is visible from every side on your worktop. Below you can read where damage matters, and how to choose power, capacity and type.

Where damage matters, and where it doesn't

On a built-in microwave, once installed you only see the door and the frame around it: damage on the sides or the top ends up inside the cabinet. A freestanding model stands open on the worktop, so there every side counts. The condition is stated for every appliance. We do not take damage photos here: it is always the box or a small scratch, never a dent that marks the appliance. The conditions: Box damaged only, Lightly damaged and Visibly damaged.

Power and capacity

The power in watts determines how fast something heats up; 700 to 800 watts is enough for reheating and defrosting, above that it goes quicker. The capacity in litres decides what fits: around 20 litres for a plate or a bowl, 25 litres and up if you also use dishes. For a dish, check the diameter of the turntable as well.

Solo, with grill or combination

A solo microwave reheats and defrosts, which is what most people use it for. With a grill you also get a crust, handy for a toastie or a gratin. A combination model adds fan heat and so partly replaces an oven. The more functions, the more room the appliance needs.

Built-in or freestanding, and the cabinet opening

A built-in microwave fits tightly into a cabinet or tall unit and needs exact opening dimensions: measure the width, height and depth before ordering, and allow room for ventilation. A freestanding model goes wherever you want, as long as air can reach the back and the top. For comparison, the new models are in the microwaves category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about outlet microwaves

Can't find your question? Feel free to get in touch.

Does an outlet microwave work as well as a new one?

Yes. The damage is cosmetic. With microwaves it is always a damaged box or a small scratch. Our engineer assesses every appliance and records the condition. We do not connect it here for a test run. You get one year of Pro Witgoed warranty, so if something does not work, we sort it out.

How much damage is there on a microwave?

Always limited. It is a damaged box or a small scratch; larger damage does not reach the outlet for a microwave. Every appliance states which condition applies: Box damaged only, Lightly damaged and Visibly damaged.

We do not take damage photos in this case, precisely because there is never more to see than that. If you want to be sure, ask our customer service for a description of that particular unit.

There is only one unit per model. Is that right?

That is right. Of almost every model there is exactly one in the outlet, because each appliance has its own damage and its own photos. Once sold, it disappears from this list. The model itself is usually still available new.

Will a built-in microwave fit my existing cabinet?

Only if the opening matches. Measure the width, height and depth of the opening and compare them with the built-in dimensions in the specifications. Allow a little room for ventilation at the back; a microwave that cannot shed its heat wears out faster.

How much cheaper is it than the same model new?

That varies per unit and depends on the damage. The new price is shown next to every appliance, so you can see the difference before you choose.
